A question was sent to me through the blog today. Do you need to include in-text citations in the report component of the homeostasis project? As with any research based project, there are times when you must cite within text. If what you are including is someone elses words or the results of their work (i.e., opinion, statistics, etc) then you MUST cite within text. If you think it is common knowledge then it is not necessary to cite it as long as you are not copying the wording...you are instead working the facts into your own constructed paragraphs. we're having a lot of trouble with the case study. What kind of template would you suggest?
ReplyDeleteHopefully you get this response in time. The case study can be approached two ways. If you are doing a doctor/patient role play,then try writing it up as a follow up to your visit with them....i.e., "patient x presented today with the following symptoms....I explained that the following process was ocurring in his/her body...we discussed treatment options including....etc. If that seems too foreign to you then you can do the old stand-by of a straight out research report with an intro, body and conclusion. Be sure to show that you can explain the anatomy and physiology involved, the homeostatic mechanisms at work, and any feedback that might be involved. Also, you must reference within text where ever appropriate and include a list of references in APA style.
